Programs
Pre-School Story time
Preschool Storytimes will resume September 20th. We will offer storytime on most Monday mornings from 10:15 to 10:45 AM with programs of stories, rhymes, finger plays, and creative play for preschoolers. Great fun for both the little ones and the grownups who bring them. Please check the Library Calendar page for particular dates. The summer dates are weekly from June 21 to August 9. No registration needed, just come and enjoy a program with other children ages 3, 4, and 5.
School-age Programs:
School Year: Programs will be offerd two Thursdays each month 2:30 – 3:30PM from September to June for children in grades K – 6; story time with craft, game days, and chapter book read-a-loud’s are just some of the programs offered. These programs are designed for children who are ready to take a first step toward independence by attending these programs with friends – parental attendance is not required for children who are able to listen and follow directions.
Teen Readers Advisory Board
Middle school and high school youths can help advise the librarian on books to purchase for their age group. The group currently meets at 7PM on the third Thursday of each month through the school year to discuss books and have input into what books the library buys for young adults. Love books? Want to have a say in how our library grows? If you are interested, please talk to Dianne about this fall’s meetings, starting September 22nd. Can’t make the first meeting, but want to participate? Just let Dianne know at 897-2647.
Book Clubs
Books for all discussions are available about a month ahead of time to borrow at no charge from the library.
Year Round: Our Book Club meets on the third Wednesday of each month at 7PM, except December. Book Club is open to any teen or adult readers who are interested in the book up for discussion. It helps to have read it before attending, but it’s not mandatory, nor is it necessary to have liked the book; varying points of view make for interesting discussions. All are welcome.
If you have a title suggestion for Fall, please let Robin, Brie, or Dianne know.
This season’s books are :
June 6: Your choice of any mystery book in series. Come and “sell” your mystery series to other readers. A great night to come with paper and pencil to record good ideas.
July 21: Ahab’s Wife by Sena Naslund.
August 18: People of the Book by Geraldine Brooks.
September 15: Mistress of the Art of Death by Ariana Franklin.
Please refer to the Library Calendar page for more information about the dates, times, and themes of specific programs mentioned above.
