February Events

Sunday, January 28

  • 1 – 4pm- Caregivers Conference (Registration Required)
    Platt Library will be holding a conference to refresh caregiver skills with early and emergent literacy. Find out more, including the registration form, on our page here: Caregivers Conference

Saturday, February 3

  • 9am – 12pm- Drop-in Craft for all ages

Thursday, February 8

  • 11am- Lap-sit Storytime (ages 0 – 3 with their parents or caregivers)
    Fun for babies and toddlers, informational for adults! Come and enjoy a low-stress, literacy-rich storytime when the library’s closed. We’ll share picture books, board books, action rhymes, fingerplays, songs, and fun at the library.

Saturday, February 10

  • 9am – 12pm- Drop-in Craft for all ages
  • 6:30 – 8:30pm- 6th Annual MAPLE FEST
    Join us for our traditional February event, hosted by the Friends of the Platt, Inc.– live music from Brandon’s Nelson Bandella (they’ll be pumping out the jams with folky Americana sound), amazing paper bag raffle with fabulous prizes ($1 a ticket, 6 for $5), and of course, the Maple Dessert Contest. Bakers can enter their creation (using only 100% Vermont Maple Syrup) to be judged by the attendees. They’ll vote with their dollars for the community favorite. This event is FREE and open to all– please bring your dollars for voting and raffle tickets–all proceeds benefit the Platt Memorial Library. Find the entry form for the Maple Dessert Contest here!

Monday, February 12

  • 10:30am- Preschool Storytime (ages 3-5)
    Join us for stories, songs, rhymes, and an activity or craft– all on a high-interest, preschool-friendly theme.

Wednesday, February 14

  • 2:45pm- Valentine’s Day Storytime (ages 5 and up)
    Come share the love at the library for Valentine’s Day! We’ll make a cool Valentine to take home. A snack will be served.
  • 7pm- Board Meeting of the Platt Memorial Library Board of Trustees

Thursday, February 15

  • 5-7pm- LEGO Night (ages 5 and up)
    Come and build with the library’s giant collection of donated LEGOs during LEGO night. Make your own creation or be inspired to work with a friend. The sky’s the limit (well, technically, the ceiling’s the limit…)

Saturday, February 17

  • 9am – 12pm- Drop-in Craft for all ages

Wednesday, February 12

  • 12:00pm Noon- Lunch Time Storytime (ages 2 – 5 and their parents or caregivers)
    Bring your lunch to the library and enjoy a short storytime and informal playgroup. We’ll share picture books, board books, action rhymes, fingerplays, songs, and fun at the library.

Monday, February 26

  • 6:30pm- Book Discussion: Dogsong by Gary Paulsen
    This classic coming-of-age story is set in an Eskimo community in Alaska. Russel, a 14-year-old Eskimo boy is deeply troubled by his people’s traditions being replaced with modern technologies. Come explore his epic journey to find his own traditions in this wintry, cold-weather read. Hot cocoa and light refreshments will be served.
