Maple Fest

The Platt Library Board and Friends are sad to say that we continue to be unable to safely hold Maple Fest as we have traditionally done in the past (please see 2020’s description below). But we are EXCITED to say we will be holding a new, outdoor winter fundraising event in February of 2022. Keep your eyes peeled for more information.

Our annual winter fundraising event, Maple Fest, was last held in February of 2020. Music was performed by Brandon’s Nelson Bandella, who rocked the Platt Library with their own special brand of folky Americana.

A maple dessert contest and tasting was held in conjunction with the concert. Local cooks were invited to submit their favorite maple dessert (which must be made with Vermont Maple Syrup) to share with the public. The crowd sampled the desserts and ‘voted’ for their favorites by making cash donations into the respective ballot boxes for each dessert item. All cash ‘votes’ benefitted the Friends of the Platt Memorial Library’s efforts to fund further renovations of the historic building. The creator of the most popular item won a spot on the coveted Golden Sap Bucket trophy, as well as a good share of bragging rights! 2020’s winner was Will Stevens. The family-friendly event was free admission. A fundraising raffle was held. Attendees were asked to just bring their appetites and plenty of cash for voting.

Entries had to include Vermont Maple Syrup and a recipe card. Entry forms were available at the library or online: Maple Dessert Entry Form 2020. For more information contact the library: 897-2647, . Or, contact Abby Adams, 897-2647,, or Cora Waag 897-2385,
