Maple Fest: Live Music + Maple Dessert Contest

Our winter fundraiser: Maple Dessert Contest and Live Music

Mark your calendars for Maple Fest 2025, sponsored by Shoreham’s Friends of the Platt Memorial library. A Benefit Concert and Maple Dessert Contest, it will be held on Saturday, March 15th from 6:30 to 8:30 pm. Live music from Ethan Nelson and friends (Nelson Bandella) will rock the library with folky Americana.

A maple dessert contest and tasting will be held in conjunction with the concert. Local cooks are invited to submit their favorite maple dessert (which must be made with Vermont Maple Syrup) to share with the public. The crowd will sample the desserts and ‘vote’ for their favorites by making cash donations into the respective ballot boxes for each dessert item. All cash ‘votes’ benefit the Friends of the Platt Memorial Library’s efforts to fund special projects and operating costs of the library. The creator of the most popular item will win a spot on the coveted Golden Sap Bucket trophy, as well as a good share of bragging rights! There have been rumors of a few savory treats being added to the competition this year. 2024's winner was Cody Mears. This family-friendly event has free admission.
