Our winter fundraiser: Maple Dessert Contest and Live Music

Maple Fest 2020 was sponsored by Shoreham’s Friends of the Platt Memorial library. A Benefit Concert and Maple Dessert Contest, it was held on Saturday, February 8 from 6:30 to 8:30 pm. Music was performed by Brandon’s Nelson Bandella, who rocked the Platt Library with their own special brand of folky Americana.

A maple dessert contest and tasting was held in conjunction with the concert. Local cooks were invited to submit their favorite maple dessert (which must be made with Vermont Maple Syrup) to share with the public. The crowd sampled the desserts and ‘voted’ for their favorites by making cash donations into the respective ballot boxes for each dessert item. All cash ‘votes’ benefitted the Friends of the Platt Memorial Library’s efforts to fund further renovations of the historic building. The creator of the most popular item won a spot on the coveted Golden Sap Bucket trophy, as well as a good share of bragging rights! 2020's winner was Will Stevens. This family-friendly event had free admission.

We're not sure what Maple Fest will look like in 2023-- watch this space for updates!
